Why Our Autism Assessment Services Stand Out

Expert Team of Clinicians

We will ensure that you have a named case co-ordinator who will act as your point of contact.

Our assessments are conducted by a multidisciplinary team of experienced clinicians, including psychotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and nurses, ensuring a well rounded and expert evaluation.

Each team member has specialised training in autism diagnosis using diagnostic tools that are recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), thus ensuring the outcome should be accepted by your local NHS.

For your assessment you will need a minimum of two clinicians from different specialities. You may be able to pick which clinician / speciality will meet your particular preferences.

In cases with complexity or where a second opinion is being sought we consult with a Clinical Psychologist.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Process

Diagnosing autism requires a detailed and multifaceted approach. We utilise a combination of standardised diagnostic tools, clinical observations, and in-depth interviews with parents or caregivers.

Developmental History: Includes gathering detailed information about prenatal, perinatal and child development. Family history, past and current health conditions.

Observation appointment: Completing NICE recommended observation appointment and conversations around your lived experiences.

School information: (where appropriate we will gain up to date information from school)

We utilise tools like the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) to ensure a reliable diagnosis.

Our clinicians may utilise a number of additional assessment tools to enable us to consider differential diagnosis and to recognise subtle presentations .

Detailed Report

Our comprehensive assessment culminates in a detailed report that includes:

  • Clear outcome of the assessment and formulation process.
  • An in-depth description of the individual’s strengths and areas of need
  • Specific recommendations for further assessments (if deemed necessary) interventions, therapies, and supports
  • Information about community resources and services

What to expect

  • Initial Consultation: An initial meeting to discuss concerns, gather preliminary information, and outline the assessment process.
  • Diagnostic Sessions: These may include structured play sessions, interactive tasks, and interviews with caregivers to assess communication, behavior, and social skills.
  • Parent/Caregiver Interview: A comprehensive interview to gather detailed developmental history and behavior patterns.
  • Feedback Session: A thorough review of the findings, where we explain the diagnosis and provide recommendations for next steps.
